a weekly newsletter to remind you to decenter work & get you up to speed on all things FOF 🕺🪩💭
Here’s the overview of what you can expect:
In Good Company: kinda whatever I feel like, whether that’s something funny, recap from an event, personal reflections about the trash state of this country etc.
Top Shelf: general recommendation! whether that’s a book, a podcast, a restaurant, a bar, something to do in nyc, a notable person — you get it
Next Up: highlighting upcoming events
If you’ve been to an event before, you’ll know that I’m a big fan of hot takes — mainly because I really don’t like groupthink — & that I personally have too many hot takes to count.
That being said, it’s even surprising to me when I realize a new hot take about myself, & it’s simply that I think fall & winter are FAR superior to spring & summer. I truly feel like I felt a cool breeze and immediately felt alive again.
As a result of feeling alive, I’ve curated the following list of things I’m excited to do/try this fall/winter:
take a pottery course — rumor has it that this will actually be deeply frustrating and humbling, but I’ve wanted to do this for years, so why not now? (the spots that are on my radar, in case you’re also interested: the pottery studio in gowanus & clayhouse in cobble hill )
continue playing tennis — no clue where/how people play tennis in the city when it’s cold, but i’m about to find out
creating a list of bars to literally read in — i’m deeply behind on my 25 books in 2025 goal (literally not even 50% done 😅) & i’m moving, so why not kill 2 birds with one stone? also something about reading in a bar makes me feel very adult?
Aunts et Uncles — a black owned brooklyn based vegan restaurant

Nic creates some of my favorite videos on tiktok because it truly highlights what the different communities in NYC have to offer. While I haven’t made it to their Brooklyn location yet, I’ve tried their food at various events—and I can vouch that it’s incredible.
But beyond the food, what stands out most is their commitment to investing in and connecting with the community. It’s businesses and people who care this deeply that make NYC what it is.
event #1: NYT100
reservations will be small & because sharing is caring, the goal is to order family style. If a menu is available online, I will include a proposal of what we’ll order (& that’s what ticket cost will be based on), but definitely flexible!
dinner @ lola’s (thurs, oct. 9th) - ticket here
event #2: cookie crawl 🍪🏃♀️
we’ll stop at 3 spots across manhattan & rank the cookies to figure out who the winner is. a great way to get in your steps with multiple rewards along the way.
cookie crawl (sun, oct. 19th) - ticket here
any cancellations for sold out events will be shared first via instagram so follow there to stay in the loop!
friendly reminder that costs always directly cover the event (eg. renting out space, securing a res, towards your meal) or go towards tip!
if you have any questions, comments, suggestions, fun stories — please share!
if you haven’t joined yet 👀
