welcome back to the weekly {five} β a little something to end your weekend (or start your week) & stay in the loop for all things five oβclock fridays!
hope everyone had an a1 thanksgiving (even though itβs an odd holiday to celebrate imo but so it goes)
i feel like the whole month of december is semi fake life β for many of us (including myself), itβs the most chaotic, out of your routines, family concentrated time of the year. so whether you love it, or itβs not your favorite thing, i hope you remember to take some time for yourself!
1. funny feature β a little something that made me literally LOL this week
perpetually grateful to not have to deal with political convos/tension around the holiday dinner tables π«£
Enable 3rd party cookies or use another browser
2. a lil city slice β a potentially off the beaten path nyc rec
cecchiβs β for when the sunday scaries are coming on too strong, west village
this might be a hot take but i personally love a pre fixe menu. sometimes (a lot of the time) analysis paralysis really hits at the wrong time β so when i saw the perfect sunday supper at cecchiβs, it seemed right up my alley.
for the sunday nights when you really feel the need to treat yourself to a nice meal β or, if youβre me, and spend way too long deciding what to order because you canβt stop yapping.
3. two cents β a quick question or two for you
do you usually go to a holiday food market? if so, with who?
4. & now you know β highlighting the girls, gays, and theys that we all should know about
Rosa Parks β which I know, we all know who Rosa Parks is, but hear me out
december 1st marks 69 years since Rosa Parks was arrested for her act of defiance β which we know played a pivotal role in the end of racial segregation (well overt racial segregation π).
this isnβt new news β but what i think is important to remember is the following:
rosa parks wasnβt an older woman when she did this (she was 42)
she wasnβt physically tired (despite that often being the narrative)
it did come with repercussions (as most acts of defiance do) of being fired and jailed
69 years ago is actually so recent β to think of all of the people who are still alive today and lived through the civil rights movement is π€―
while clearly weβre entering an increasingly divisive era in this country, as Rosa Parks said βYou must never be fearful about what you are doing when it is right.β
5. up and coming β whatβs going on for five oβclock fridays in the coming weeks
these events have been super fun (& can confirm that friendships have been made π₯³π) β that being said, someone always tries to ruin the fun so will now be including this disclaimer: refunds are up to my discretion π€·πΎββοΈ
cancelling last minute prevents someone else from signing up (which is sad) β this really is a labor of love (i literally gain nothing besides creating space for a1 humans to meet) so, while i know & respect that things come up, donβt get mad if i donβt refund you (because i usually just add it on as a tip π€·πΎββοΈ).
the ticket cost is to ensure headcount and either goes 1/ towards your bill or 2/ as a tip to the location.
up & coming1:
