welcome back to the weekly {five} â a little something to end your weekend (or start week) & stay in the loop for all things five oâclock fridays!
full transparency, iâm writing this after 2 days of skiing (for literally the second time ever) so i donât have great commentary to start off this weekly five đ¤ˇđžââī¸
i will say itâs doing something completely outside of my comfort zone that reminds me the value of continuing to push yourself as an adult to find new spaces and engage in life in new ways.
obviously FOF is a different iteration of the same vibe but, iâve said it before and iâll say it again, if youâre a reader but not someone who has shown up â itâs you against you on that one đ
1. funny feature â a little something that made me literally LOL this week
is it just me or is something about the unintentional unfiltered honesty of kids simultaneously terrifying and hysterical?

2. a lil city slice â a potentially off the beaten path nyc rec
the pastry box â always willing to detour for a treat, east village đ°đ§
originally propelled into entrepreneurship by the pandemic â via selling pastries to her neighbors in bed-stuy â Tiara Bennett, fine dining culinary connoisseur, brought her east village bakery to life in June of 2023.
offering everything from custom cakes to cookies (apparently a contender for best NYC chocolate chip cookie đ), thereâs definitely something for everyone.
if you find yourself in the east village, try giving this black-owned bakery a try!
3. two cents â a quick question or two for you
whatâs our plan for the rest of winter?
4. & now you know â highlighting the girls, gays, and theys (or topics) that we all should know about
Lencia Kebede â for being cast as the first black actress to play Elphaba full-time on Broadway đ§đžâ¨đĒŠ
iâm by no means a big broadway person, but, since seeing Wicked, it has become one of my more recent hyper fixations.
itâs obviously no secret how widespread the lack of representation is in the theater and broadway more generally â but, as we know, every âfirstâ creates a path for so many more to confidently follow.
if youâre also a recent Wicked super fan, and looking to see it on Broadway, she takes the stage starting on March 4th!
5. up and coming â whatâs going on for five oâclock fridays in the coming weeks
given the short month (& the cold weather), iâve decided to not have a free event this month đŦđĢŖ
transparently, thereâs not a ton of indoor free activities so hoping for warmer weather in march to have the next free event đ¤đž
reminder, ways to get earlier access to events:
upgrading to the paid substack (only $5/month (!!) & helps for planning events)
attending at least 2 events in the previous 2 months (we love consistency đâ¨)
any cancellations for sold out events will be shared first via instagram so follow there to stay in the loop!
friendly reminder that costs always directly cover the event (eg. renting out space, securing a res, towards your meal) or go towards tip!
up & coming1:
