welcome back to the weekly {five} — a little something to end your weekend (or start your week) & stay in the loop for all things five o’clock fridays!
i hope you all had a happy & restful holiday season!
i personally am excited to be back in nyc and, as promised, spent a solid amount of time thinking about the future of five o’clock fridays.
so before fully returning to the regular scheduled programming (aka the weekly five), i wanted to highlight key things that we will be doing differently this year.
1. one fully free (!!) event a month
the original idea of five o’clock fridays always intended to have free events — because obviously everything in this city is $$$ and i’m not trying to add to the list of things to spend your hard earned dollars on.
however, i quickly learned that people are much more likely to not find an excuse when there is something to lose (aka $10).
but, as i’ve ideated for the past few weeks, i’ve decided to give fully free events a try (with the hopes that people show up because there’s nothing to lose).
2. people who have attended 2+ events will get access to events first
with a few of the more recent events filling up super quickly, i’ve decided that people who consistently show up should continue to have the opportunity to do that.
this means starting in February, if you have attended over 2 events in the past 2 months (so December and January) — you will receive an email for that month’s events in advance of the weekly five so you have the highest likelihood of securing a spot for events with limited spots.
if you haven’t attended 2 events yet — no worries, there will be 3-4 events a month so you’ll have a ton of chances to hit that number!
3. contact info will be shared post each event
the main goals of five o’clock fridays are:
create community that unlocks the feeling of five o’clock on a friday — but on a more regular basis
create spaces that enable people to meet new people & make new friends
enable people to try & do things outside of their normal routine
with that in mind, fully closing the loop on creating meaningful friendships requires people connecting outside of FOF events. to better facilitate this, after each event, i will be sharing the contact info from the individuals who attended that event.
this means that each event attendee will be required to share their phone number (or instagram) when signing up for an event.
4. up and coming — what’s going on for five o’clock fridays in the coming weeks
honestly 2024 was a great starting point but super excited for what 2025 has in store for FOF!
