welcome back to the weekly {five} — a little something to end your weekend (or start the week) & stay in the loop for all things five o’clock fridays!
after a few week hiatus (rip work travel), we have weekly events starting up again this week! i personally am excited to be out and about and really enjoying the nicer weather.
i feel like i’ve called people out a few times too many but, as always, there’s no time like the present to show up for yourself & nothing is going to change unless you do 👀
1. funny feature — a little something that made me literally LOL this week
glad to hear i’m not the only one taking 2-3 business days to respond to the simplest of texts 👀🥴

2. a lil city slice — a potentially off the beaten path nyc rec
heroes — barack and michelle on their website immediately sold me, soho 🥹
the way that so many of my city slices are a direct result of hearing about a happy hour deal, you would think i spend way more time in bars than i actually do.
nevertheless, with a $5 tiny martini happy hour deal, i’m fully convinced this spot is about to be on everyone’s spring/summer hit list.
happy hour aside, this restauranteur founded restaurant is a tribute to the everyday heroes that the owners and operators have been inspired by. with a menu that is a mix of classic to more modern dishes, i feel like it’s worth a try!
heads up that drinks are 💰💰💰 so would plan accordingly (aka be a sober sister or grab drinks somewhere else before 🤷🏾♀️)
3. two cents — a quick question or two for you
as a type A virgo, i love a plan — but also recognize that some of ya’ll may be a little more last minute so
4. & now you know — highlighting the girls, gays, and theys (or topics) that we all should know about
did you know that international women’s day started in the 1900s? i truly thought it started like 10ish years ago 🥴
if you already know the history feel free to skip but for those who didn’t (like myself), here’s the highlights:
1908: 15k women marched in NYC demanding shorter hours, better pay, and voting rights
1910: Clara Zelkin, a German women’s rights activist, advocated for an annual, global event on the same day
1967: the feminist movement adopted the day
1977: United Nations formally recognized and celebrated the event
the way that international women’s day is celebrated varies highly across the world but the purpose remains the same: celebrate the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of all women 💃👯♀️✨
5. up and coming — what’s going on for five o’clock fridays in the coming weeks
lots of fun events in the next few weeks! my 2 second pitch for each of them (in case you haven’t signed up yet 👀):
shuffleboard — i don’t even like games but requires 0 skill plus you can also just hang (royal palms is v spacious with pretty solid drinks!)
brunch — i mean this is self explanatory, who doesn’t like brunch..
friend speed dating — will have activities and snacks, need i say more
reminder, ways to get earlier access to events:
upgrading to the paid substack (only $5/month (!!) & helps for planning events)
attending at least 2 events in the previous 2 months (we love consistency 💃✨)
any cancellations for sold out events will be shared first via instagram so follow there to stay in the loop!
friendly reminder that costs always directly cover the event (eg. renting out space, securing a res, towards your meal) or go towards tip!
